Filters and date ranges

Which report screens carry filters, what the shared filter bar does, what the attendance report's own three boxes do, and how to clear them again.

People look for filters on every report screen, so it is worth saying plainly which screens have them and which do not.

Where the filters are

Reports home, Programme M&E, Project summary and Beneficiary participation share one filter bar: a from date, a to date and a programme. Project summary adds a status box and Beneficiary participation adds a gender box. Attendance rate per activity has its own three boxes, described below.

Beneficiaries by status and Beneficiaries per program have no filters at all. There is no hidden panel on those two screens. When you want a narrower view of one of them, narrow it at the source instead: on Beneficiaries by status, each row links through to the register already filtered to that status.

Using the three boxes

On the shared filter bar the two dates define the period the figures and rows cover, and the programme box limits them to one programme. The Download CSV button on those screens carries the same filter, so the file matches what you see.

Attendance rate per activity offers exactly three boxes:

  • A from date.
  • A to date.
  • An activity name box, which matches any activity whose name contains what you typed.

The two dates match against the activity's start date, not against the date somebody attended. An activity that began in March and ran sessions into June sits in March as far as this filter is concerned, so a date range covering June alone will not bring it back.

The date boxes are ordinary date pickers, presented in your browser's own format. A colleague whose machine is set up differently may see the same date written another way, and that changes nothing about the result.

The activity name box matches any part of a name, so a single word is usually enough and you do not have to start from the beginning of the name.

The attendance rate report with a date range and an activity name applied.
With no filter set, the report shows every activity that has attendance records. There is no default date window, so what you see when you arrive is already everything.

Clearing what you set

A Clear link appears only once at least one filter is set, and clicking it returns you to the unfiltered report. If you cannot see a Clear link, then nothing is filtered and you are already looking at everything.

You can also set one box on its own. A from date with no to date, or an activity name with no dates at all, both work, and the Clear link appears just the same.
