Setting up your workspace

The five step wizard that runs the first time an administrator opens the dashboard.

A workspace needs to know where in the world it is working before it can offer you the right locations, currency, calendar and number formats. A short wizard collects that once.

When it appears

The first time an administrator opens the dashboard, CommonLynk sends them to the setup wizard instead. It appears only for administrators, and only until it has been finished or skipped.

There is a skip action if you cannot finish now. Your workspace opens normally and you can complete every one of these settings later from Settings.

The five steps

  1. Country. Pick the country you work in. This is the only required answer in the wizard, and it sets sensible starting values for everything in step three. It also begins loading the list of governorates and districts for that country in the background.
  2. Languages. Choose the language your team sees CommonLynk in, and one additional language for entering content. You can add more languages afterwards from Settings.
  3. Regional. Review the time zone, currency, number format, time format, date order, first day of the week and paper size that step one suggested, and adjust anything that is wrong.
  4. Locations. Name your three levels of geography in the words your country actually uses, for example Governorate, District and Village. You can also switch the third level on or off here.
  5. Done. A summary of every answer. Confirming it saves the lot and takes you to your dashboard.

Changing any of it later

Nothing the wizard sets is permanent. Settings has a Language tab, a Regional tab and a Locations tab holding exactly the same options, and you can return to them whenever your work changes.
